ABC News: Catholic Church elects its first American pope

ABC News interviews senior research fellow Michael Miller about Pope Leo XIV's announcement
Here is a short interview I did after Pope Leo was elected. I discuss his first homily where Pope Leo speaks about the fundamental question that Jesus asks to Peter - who do people say that I am? Pope Leo explains that the during Jesus time some people thought he was irrelevant, others a charlatan, some believed he was a great moral teacher or philosopher -and the same is true today. Amidst our wealth and power Jesus is irrelevant. Or maybe a wise teacher - including some Christians This is the fundamental question of life: Who is Jesus? Pope Leo encourages us to answer as Peter did - that Jesus is the Messiah, "the Son of the Living God" Read his whole homily here: https://www.vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/en/homilies/2025/documents/20250509-messa-cardinali.html -
